On black blogs because all the black blogs that I have read have been Josh!! Oh!! Josh!! We Love You!! I am proud of Josh and I congratulate him but to say that the other students did not work hard is not fair. Please remember that he isnt the first white student to attend Morehouse but he is the first white valedictorian. The last 140 have been black. That is not the situation. When do we ever congratulate all the blacks who have been valedictorians and all who have studied hard? People are upset really where?? I'll have to check out Hybrid Nation to see exactly why. I could see being upset at Black Morehouse students for not "bringing it" in the grades department (though that's not really a productive line of thinking either), but I can't see being upset at the college for bestowing valedictorian honors on the person who was at the top of the class. That the valedictorian is white is pretty ironic, given that it's a Black college; but that Morehouse didn't do any fancy math to make sure a Black student was fingered as valedictorian speaks highly for the school and affirms that, this many years at Dr. King graduated, it is still interested in perpetuating his values.
